In most boilers, there are two types of Electrodes : 1) The Spark Electrode and 2) the Flame Sensing Electrode. The Spark Electrode uses a spark to ignite the gases within the combustion chamber. A Flame Sensing Electrode, on the other hand, ensures that the flame started by the spark electrode is still present within the combustion chamber. This feature is critical as it stop gas from being supplied if the flame has been extinguished.
