You will find 2 main types of Electrodes within most boilers The Ignition Electrode (sometimes known as the Spark Electrode) and the Flame sensing Electrode. When there is a need to activate the boiler, the PCB relays commands to the Spark Electrode which then utilises an electronically generated spark to ignite the fuel inside the burner and begin the combustion process. A Flame Sensing Electrode, on the other hand, makes sure that a flame is present inside the burner. This feature is critical as it stop gas from being supplied if the flame has been extinguished.
