A Heat Exchanger enables the passing of heat between the burner and water within the system. Depending on the type of appliance in question, there are two different types of heat exchanger: The domestic heat exchanger and the main heat exchanger. Almost all boilers have a primary heat exchanger which allows generated heat to be passed in to the water system. The secondary heat exchanger, however, is present alongside the primary heat exchanger in combination boilers and enacts heat transfers across two closed water systems.
