Glowworm K5509 Thermocouple

A thermocouple is a safety device that restricts unburnt gas from building up within the boiler when the pilot light is out. One end if fitted within or just above the pilot flame, the opposite end is fitted to a volt sensor that operates the gas valve. When the pilot end detects a flame a small current is sent to the valve, instructing it to stay open. When there is no signal, the valve remains closed.
