There are 2 main types of electrodes that are found in most boilers: 1) The Spark Electrode and 2) the Flame Sensing Electrode. A Spark Electrode utilises an electronically generated spark to ignite the gases within the combustion chamber. The Flame Sensing Electrode ensures that a flame is present inside the burner. This important safety feature prevents gas from flooding the burner if the flame has been extinguished.
