Ferroli 39803010 Thermocouple

A thermocouple is a safety mechanism that restricts unburnt gas from building up within the boiler when the pilot light is out. One end is positioned within or just above the pilot flame, the opposite end is fitted to a volt sensor that operates the gas valve. When the pilot end encounters a flame the valve receives a small current, notifying it to stay open. When no signal is sent, the valve stays closed.
