The Heat Exchanger passes heat from the combustion chamber to the water within a system. Depending on the type of appliance in question, there are two different types of heat exchanger: The domestic heat exchanger and the main heat exchanger. The most common is the primary heat exchanger which is present in most boilers and transfers the heat from the burner to the water in the system. Alternatively, the plate heat exchanger is present alongside the primary heat exchanger in combination boilers and is responsible for heat transfers between two independent closed systems.
