You will find 2 main types of Electrodes within most boilers The Flame Monitoring Electrode (also known as the Flame Sensing Electrode) and the Spark Electrode (also known as the Ignition Electrode). A Spark Electrode utilises a spark to ignite the gases within the combustion chamber. A Flame Sensing Electrode, on the other hand, makes sure that the flame started by the spark electrode is still present inside the burner. This feature is critical as it prevents gas from flooding the burner if the flame has been extinguished.
