The Automatic Air Vent removes air pockets which can build up inside a central heating system, making sure that this system doesn't display behaviours such as strange noises and increased corrosion. Unlike most components within a boiler, the AAV does not need to receive signals from the PCB to activate. There is a float built in to the AAV which monitors the system water level and allows air to be vented. If the level of the water is high, the float will block the air discharge hole, when the level of the water is low, air can escape as the discharge hole is no longer blocked.
