The AAV removes air pockets from within a central heating system, ensuring that this system does not become airlocked. The Automatic Air Vent does not need to receive instructions from the PCB. A float within the AAV monitors the system water level and allows air to be vented. If the level of the water is high, the air discharge hole is blocked by the float, when the level of the water is low, the holes are no longer blocked and the air can escape.
