You will find 2 main types of Electrodes within most boilers The Flame Monitoring Electrode (also known as the Flame Sensing Electrode) and the Spark Electrode (also known as the Ignition Electrode). A Spark Electrode utilises an electronically generated spark to ignite the fuel inside the burner and begin the combustion process. The Flame Sensing Electrode checks that a flame is present within the combustion chamber. This important safety feature stop gas from being supplied if the flame has been extinguished.
