Ideal 30032 Thermocouple

A thermocouple is a safety instrument that prevents unburnt gas from building up within the boiler when the pilot light is out. One end is positioned within or just above the pilot flame, the other is attached to a volt sensor that governs the gas valve. When the pilot end detects a flame a small current is sent to the valve, instructing it to remain open. When there is no signal, the valve remains closed.
