The AAV allows the release of air bubbles from within a central heating system, making sure that this system does not become airlocked. Unlike most components within a boiler, the AAV does not need to receive signals from the PCB to activate. A float within the AAV matches the water level within the system and allows air to be vented. If the level of the water is high, the air discharge hole is blocked by the float, if the water level is low, air can escape as the discharge hole is no longer blocked.
