You will find 2 main types of Electrodes within most boilers The Ignition Electrode (sometimes known as the Spark Electrode) and the Flame sensing Electrode. A Spark Electrode utilises a spark to ignite the fuel inside the burner and begin the combustion process. A Flame Sensing Electrode, on the other hand, ensures that the flame started by the spark electrode is still present within the combustion chamber. This feature is critical as it prevents gas from flooding the burner if the flame goes out.
