Glowworm S202413 Thermocouple

A thermocouple is a safety mechanism that restricts unburnt gas from building up within the boiler when there is no flame detected. One end if fitted within or just above the pilot flame, the other is attached to a volt sensor that operates the gas valve. When the pilot end detects a flame the valve receives a small current, instructing it to stay open. When no signal is sent, the valve remains closed.
