In most boilers, there are two types of Electrodes : The Flame Monitoring Electrode (also known as the Flame Sensing Electrode) and the Spark Electrode (also known as the Ignition Electrode). A Spark Electrode utilises a spark to ignite the fuel inside the burner and begin the combustion process. The Flame Sensing Electrode ensures that a flame is present within the combustion chamber. This feature is critical as it stop gas from being supplied if the flame goes out.
