There are 2 main types of electrodes that are found in most boilers: 1) The Spark Electrode and 2) the Flame Sensing Electrode. The Spark Electrode utilises a spark to ignite the gases within the combustion chamber. A Flame Sensing Electrode, on the other hand, ensures that a flame is present within the combustion chamber. This important safety feature stop gas from being supplied if the flame has been extinguished.
