Glowworm 202430 Thermocouple

A thermocouple is a safety device that stops unburnt gas from flooding the boiler when the pilot light is out. One end if fitted within or just above the pilot flame, the other is attached to a volt sensor that controls the gas valve. When the pilot end encounters a flame a small current flows to the valve, instructing it to remain open. When there is no signal, the valve remains closed.
