There are 2 main types of electrodes that are found in most boilers: The Flame Sensing Electrode and the Spark Electrode. The Spark Electrode utilises a spark to ignite the fuel inside the burner and begin the combustion process. The Flame Sensing Electrode makes sure that the flame started by the spark electrode is still present inside the burner. This feature is critical as it prevents gas from flooding the burner if the flame has been extinguished.
