The Heat Exchanger passes heat into the water within the system. Depending on the type of appliance in question, there are two different types of heat exchanger: The main heat exchanger and the plate heat exchanger. Almost all boilers have a primary heat exchanger which allows generated heat to be passed in to the water system. Alternatively, the plate heat exchanger is present alongside the primary heat exchanger in combination boilers and is responsible for heat transfers across two closed water systems.
