The Heat Exchanger is responsible for the transfer of heat between the burner and water within the system. Inside a boiler, you usually find 2 main types of heat exchanger: A primary heat exchanger and a secondary heat exchanger (also known as a domestic hot water heat exchanger or a plate heat exchanger). The most common is the primary heat exchanger which is present in most boilers and transfers the heat from the burner to the water in the system. The secondary heat exchanger, however, is present alongside the primary heat exchanger in combination boilers and allows heat transference between two independent closed systems.
