In most boilers, there are two types of Electrodes : The Ignition Electrode (sometimes known as the Spark Electrode) and the Flame sensing Electrode. A Spark Electrode utilises a spark to ignite the fuel inside the burner and begin the combustion process. A Flame Sensing Electrode, on the other hand, ensures that a flame is present within the combustion chamber. This feature is critical as it stop gas from being supplied if the flame goes out.
