Main 786/9641 Thermocouple

A thermocouple is a safety device that stops unburnt gas from flooding the boiler when there is no flame detected. One end if fitted within or just above the pilot flame, the opposite end is fitted to a volt sensor that controls the gas valve. When the pilot end detects a flame a small current is sent to the valve, notifying it to stay open. When no signal is sent, the valve remains closed.
