You will find 2 main types of Electrodes within most boilers The Flame Monitoring Electrode (also known as the Flame Sensing Electrode) and the Spark Electrode (also known as the Ignition Electrode). The Spark Electrode produces a spark to ignite the gases within the combustion chamber. A Flame Sensing Electrode, on the other hand, ensures that a flame is present within the combustion chamber. This important safety feature stop gas from being supplied if the flame has been extinguished.
