Electrodes tend to come in two main types: The Ignition Electrode (sometimes known as the Spark Electrode) and the Flame sensing Electrode. When there is a need to activate the boiler, the PCB relays commands to the Spark Electrode which then utilises a spark to ignite the gases within the combustion chamber. The Flame Sensing Electrode ensures that a flame is present within the combustion chamber. This feature is critical as it stop gas from being supplied if the flame has been extinguished.
