Glowworm S900000 Thermocouple

A thermocouple is a safety mechanism that stops unburnt gas from building up within the appliance when there is no flame detected. One end is positioned within or just above the pilot flame, the other is attached to a volt sensor that controls the gas valve. When the pilot end detects a flame a small current is sent to the valve, notifying it to remain open. When no signal is sent, the valve stays closed.
